Let’s go abroad! Why not . . . Berlin!

DSC02409This year I had an opportunity to visit for a short time the capital of Germany. I spent a great evening admiring Weihnachtsmarkt am Alexanderplatz. Although couldn’t try their Bratwurst but I tasted Glühwein and enjoyed everything all around! For a short time I could feel like in a fairy tale!

What is more in Berlin you can find much more Christmas Markets and everything takes place every evening since the end of November till the end of December!

Christmas Markets in Berlin are already finished as well as about to finish is the year 2013. But nothing is lost! If you are in Berlin next year November/December (on your way to Tuscany), you will get to like for sure this special atmosphere! I guarantee you !

  1. I cannot say enough great things about the German Christmas markets! I took my girlfriends there a couple of weeks ago and they loved it! I’m glad you had a chance to visit and experience it! I wrote a couple of posts about it myself. Happy New Year!

  2. Back in 1970 a friend and I were trying to hitch a ride to Rome from Florence. All the young women students out hitching were getting rides, but no luck for two guys. Finally two girls took pity on us, and when a young man stopped to offer them a ride, they convinced him to take the two of us instead. We climbed into his Alfa Romeo, and he said he hoped we wouldn’t mind avoiding the autostrada and taking the back roads. He drove very quickly, occasionally braking to avoid a slow-moving farmer’s wagon ahead. When I finally commented on his speed and driving agility, he confessed that he was a racecar driver. As we approached Siena he suggested a quick detour into the city (this was long before the state road from Florence south via Siena was four lanes wide with off- and on-ramps). As we drove up into the city center(car traffic was still allowed at the time), I fell in love with the piazza and the splendid architecture, and have since then taken any opportunity to visit lovely Siena. Thanks for keeping the city alive in so many minds, and happy New Year!

  3. I was in Berlin this year too….but it was before the xmas markets ….too bad…because for as much as I love Italy, no one gets it right for the xmas markets like the Germans and Austrians…..

  4. Thank you for liking “ICEHOTEL.” I enjoyed this post. I have not seen Christmas Markets at Berlin before. They look like fun places to visit. I especially like the pictures of the Christmas ornaments and the carnival rides. Thanks for the wonderful virtual tour and Happy New Year! 🙂
